3 Different Ways People Reach Happiness

Happiness in life is the goal of every person. It is not the actions we do which makes us happy, but instead those actions create an atmosphere in which good things happen which in turn makes us happy. The definition of happiness differs from person to person. Some find happiness in the receipt of money, the purchase of material objects, authority over others, or in spirituality, just to name a few. Whatever be the avenue for you to experience happiness, the key to it lies in the following 3 items.

1. Learn to leave the past behind:

Leave incidents that have taken place, which had a negative impact on your emotions, caused you frustration, guilt, a sense or failure or fear. Often, these things can be the biggest cause of stress and reduce your quality of life. After a point of time, holding on to past events that affected you negatively does start affect your well-being. The best option is to let the old stuff die. Try your darndest to live in today.

2. Don't live in regret:

Regret is the biggest burden you can carry along throughout your life. Living with regrets will not bring happiness in life. Instead, it will cause you to second guess any and all decisions you have ever made. Know that we can't reverse the actions of the past, but we can forgive ourselves and others, to allow us to move on and be happy.

3. Learn to live in the present:

People who live in the past bring negative energy into the present, and those who are always thinking about tomorrow often miss the value of any joy they can experience at the present. The key is to understand that the past cannot be fixed and the future cannot be planned, only outlined.
To truly experience happiness in life, one must apply each of these three items. Remember, our time on earth in the physical sense is only temporary, thus it is in our best interest to remember that and enjoy the small amount of time available to us. Since happiness is the ultimate emotional goal for everyone, why not apply these three rules and make sure that you stay happy in life.

Reading - Make It Effective

The main problem for a reader is the volume of information made available in print: information overload. The reader needs to be able to select the relevant source from the mass of sources available, the relevant ideas or facts from the bulk of the material and even, in order to speed up the process, the relevant words from the general flow of written English. If you want to improve the efficiency of your reading, therefore you need to improve the speed and accuracy of this selection process. How fast do you read, and how much do you take in? The average adult apparently reads between 200 and 300 words per minute (word per minute) but it is possible to read much faster than that, up to 1,000 (word per minute) reading faster actually means that you are concentrating more closely on the task in hand, so more, rather than less, information can be absorbed.

READING STRATEGY

You are simply reading for pleasure? You can afford to take your time and relish every detail this is rarely the case however, in study or work. You will at some point be faced with in-tray full of material requiring attention, or a book list for assignment what will you do? if you simply start at the top and read until your concentration falters or eyesight fails you may find that you may have:
  • Read items in the wrong order; or
  • Not completed the required reading; but
  • Covered a lot of material that may eventually prove irrelevant
OBJECTIVE

Your reading objective is the first and most important thing. Reading for pleasure or some professional task?

SCANNING

In all the essential writings it is very important to understand the underline purpose of reading which is scanning first. Scanning allows you to get a fast overview of a piece of writing so that you can asses its value as a whole and select relevant parts if necessary. Scanning is not reading actually word by word or phrase by phrase but it allows the reader to get the background of the entire text and concentrate on the key expressions which are of some relevance. Scanning basically allows the reader to look for the most relevant data.

SKIMMING

Skimming is another way of reading faster. It is basically a general overview about the content and jest of the text which make it easier for the reader to find out the relevant data. Another purpose of skimming is to eliminate the irrelevant details in the form of stories or charts but to highlight the headings, sub-headings and those ideas which are of importance. Another remarkable aspect of skimming is to run your eyes as fast as possible in order to cover large details of information in the shortest possible time.

READING

When you finally get down to reading,
  • Remember to be an active receiver of information,
  • Not a passive receiver of data
  1. Read carefully
  2. Read intelligently
  3. Concentrate
  4. Plan to minimize problems

Six Ways To Become A Better Listener

So, you've decided to purchase a new car and you're looking for a great deal. Here are some things you can do before visiting a dealership to purchase your car.

1. Know your credit score. Dealerships will pull three credit reports when you apply to purchase a vehicle. Expect them to do this whether or not you are purchasing a car for all cash or supplying your own financing or asking the dealership to secure financing for you. They typically give greater weight to one credit reporting agency over the other two.

The three credit reporting agencies that are used are: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Call the dealership that you've decided on visiting and ask for a desk manager. Ask him which of the three agencies they use to determine credit worthiness. Make sure you have all 3 reports with you when you go to the dealership; all received in less than 30 days before the purchase of your car.

2. If you are looking to the dealership to secure financing for you, remember the better financing deals are offered to those applicants who have a credit score of 730 FICO score or above. If you have a credit union or bank that you like working with, prearrange financing with them before visiting the dealership. You will have their rates as a benchmark and more leverage to negotiate a better deal.

3. Know what rebates are being offered by the manufacturer. Manufacturers offer different rebates at different times during the year. There are rebates as incentives to purchase a vehicle, rebates for loyalty for returning customers, rebates offered for switching from certain competitive brands to their brand and many manufactures offer a rebate to recent college graduates. As part of your research, know which rebates apply to you.

Rebates are offered in two ways, as a cash reduction from the price after taxes have been added and as lowered interest rates for the most qualified buyers. Even if your credit does not qualify for the rate reductions, you can qualify for the cash reduction.

4. Make sure you do your research, both on the vehicle you want and on the one you want to trade-in. New car manufacturers have made it easy to research the new vehicles. Everything you need to price your new vehicle has been provided by the manufacturer. You can find all the specifications for the vehicle that interests you on the manufacturer's website. Use the specifications and tools to build the vehicle that you want with the equipment options that you like. The use the manufacturer's tools to price the vehicle. Once you're satisfied that you have all the equipment that you want priced for the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, visit a third party website like Edmunds.com and price the vehicle for the dealer's invoice pricing,

5. Most importantly you need to price your trade-in correctly. You can get pricing from Kelley Blue Book online. Here's the difficult part. No matter how attached you've become to your vehicle you have to be realistic about it's value. Dealerships do not want high mileage or vehicles in poor condition and will offer you a price that reflects that. Those vehicles are sold to a wholesaler and taken to auction.

When pricing a trade-in, dealers will never consider it in excellent condition. Due to normal wear you can't either. If your car is in really good condition, price in the "Good" category, then get a fair deal for your car.

If at all possible and you have the wherewithal and the time, sell the vehicle yourself. This can be somewhat difficult and costly in time and expense which is why most owners seek to make their best deal with the dealer.

6. We've all heard the stories about how customers are cheated when buying a car. While I don't think some caution is a bad thing, I think that carrying a negative attitude with you to the dealership is unnecessary. While the dealership is looking to make money on every deal, they will accept a fair profit if you present them one. You actually control the transaction because without you there is no deal. They will present MSRP to every customer because that's their job. They will accept a deal if they are making a profit. Your job, as I see it, is to get a price that is acceptable to you while allowing the dealer a small, but fair profit. You can do it and if you follow the 5 steps above you will get a very smooth and fair deal.

Set Goals in 3 Easy Steps

Many of us start the New Year off with resolutions. How many of you keep your resolutions? How many of you have either thrown those resolutions out or have slacked off on them already? I know I don't stick to my resolutions so I no longer make resolutions at the start of the New Year. Instead I go through a 3-step process to get myself ready and to set goals.

STEP 1:

I write out what I accomplished or achieved last year so then I can focus on what I intend to accomplish or achieve this coming year. I actually make a list so it is in front of me and I can refer back to it when I need to. This does two things for me. First, it gives me a sense of accomplishment for what I did last year (and it makes me feel good!). Second, it gives me perspective and direction for this New Year. Once I've done this, I'm ready to move on to my next step.

STEP 2:

I go through the Start / Stop / Continue routine. I consider what I want to START doing this year, what I want to STOP doing and what I want to CONTINUE doing. For example, I want to start being more purposeful; I want to have real purpose in the things that I take on this year. I want to stop getting sucked into things that I really don't want to do. One of the most important things I've learned this past year is that "No" is a complete sentence and I'm going to use it this year. This will be a tough one for me but I am determined to incorporate this into my goals. Lastly, I will continue to set boundaries so that I have the family time I want. That includes knowing when to turn off e-mail, limiting evening meetings, and all those things that creep into our schedules and take away our family time.

STEP 3:

When it's time to set my actual goals, it's important that they are positive goals. Many people have trouble trying to figure out what they want their goals to be - parents and teens alike. It's so much easier for us to make a list of the things we don't want so why not start there? Make a list of those things you don't want - and turn them into positives. For example, if I say I don't want to be overweight, I can turn that around to be I want to reach and maintain my ideal weight. Another example could be, I don't want to always be late to school, I can turn that around to be I want to be early and unrushed for school this year. When we turn it into a positive statement, then we're moving towards something we want and we're more apt to get it. You are more likely to be motivated to achieve your goal when it is a positive thing.

3 Simple Words to Improve Your Performance

What 3 words can have the biggest impact on your life? Try these...

No More Excuses!

We all do it. We all fall into it. We don't have time. We don't have energy. We will get to it later. There are a thousand of them. None of them move us closer to our goals and our desired destination.

If we want to have success like others in the world, we must learn, understand and apply their wisdom and their habits in our lives. This involves a no excuses mentality.

We all have the same amount of time in a day. What makes some more productive and successful than others? It is action! It is doing things when we don't want to. It is using our time to the fullest. It is taking a no excuses approach to life. If we apply these three words in our lives, we will find out how others get so many things done.

Write down these three words. Post them someplace you will see them often, like your bathroom mirror. Let them remind you to take action. Let them inspire you to get moving. Make a commitment to live by them. Do this and your life would improve for the better.

Excuses take up valuable time and energy. Use this time and energy to take action in the pursuit of your goals. It's amazing what can get accomplished when you spend time doing and moving forward instead of spending time making excuses and thinking of reasons why you can't do something. Do all you can to avoid excuses and its many friends - procrastination, avoidance, fear, mediocrity and negativity.

Analyze what you do, think and say that might be holding you back in your life. Make a list of excuses you are using and make plans to eliminate them. Ask others to give you feedback and hold you accountable. Do everything you can to create new habits and take new actions in your life. Improving ourselves starts with understanding what we are doing wrong and then making adjustments in our methods.

If you become an expert at the No More Excuses philosophy, you will be making massive progress in your life!

Achieve Your Dreams By Using These 4 Keys

Dream big and you can achieve phenomenal results. In order to succeed in life you have to have a dream or a target that you desire to hit. Once you have a goal then you need to take certain steps to realize your dream. Here are 4 tips for succeeding at living your dreams.

Get A Goal.
You need a goal in order to keep you on track to getting what you want. A goal lets you set up action steps for attaining your dream. You can create milestones which let you know you are on target and moving towards what you want.

Get A Coach.
A coach can guide you from where you are to where you want to go. With their advice you can get clear on your major objectives, formulate a game-plan and eliminate any mental blocks that may be holding back. A coach can stir you through difficult problems and help you stay on the path to where you want to go.

Get A Reason.
You must have a strong reason why. If you know why then the "how" is relatively easy to figure out. You can always find answers to your questions when you are clear on what you want to do and why you want to do it. Your reason why will also motivate you when nothing else will.

Get A Resolve.
Persist in through the struggles. There is always a price to pay. Make up your mind in advance that you will pay that price to have what you want. Tell yourself it is worth it and never give up. Remember once you truly commit then you remove the option of quitting. Set your mind to seeing it through. If you continually follow through on your plans and adjust as necessary then you will eventually succeed.
